Dr. Rachel Brosamle graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a minor in Psychology from DePaul University.  She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco, and has worked in community mental health and at five different university counseling centers in Southern California and the Bay Area.  She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of Southern California and her postdoctoral fellowship at Loyola Marymount University. As the former Counseling Director at Otis College of Art and Design, Dr. Brosamle ran the counseling service for undergrad and graduate students and provided training and consultation to the college. Currently, Dr. Brosamle offers psychotherapy through her private practice and provides executive and organizational consulting and coaching to businesses and organizations.

Dr. Brosamle has training and experience using evidence-based treatments for anxiety, phobias, OCD, and depression, and prioritizes the client-therapist relationship to create a safe environment for growth and insight.  Her therapeutic approach uses a multicultural lens and integrates relational-psychodynamic and third-wave cognitive behavioral therapies.  These techniques are used together to address the whole person.  Ultimately, treatment is tailored to the client in order to best meet his/her/their unique experiences and needs.  This approach includes attention to cultural components including—but not limited to—race, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and contexts of power, oppression, and privilege.  Dr. Brosamle’s background in liberal arts and training as a yoga instructor bring a unique and holistic layer to her work.

Therapy with Dr. Brosamle focuses on managing negative symptoms, increasing healthy coping and self-care, and exploring salient relationship, cultural, and identity issues and themes.  Therapy goals are explored and revisited throughout treatment to provide some structure to an otherwise organic and flexible process.

Dr. Brosamle enjoys working with adolescents, couples, and adults and specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD.  She is passionate about working with individuals on adjustment and life changes, performance and creativity, relationship difficulties, and identity development.

Dr. Brosamle is a licensed psychologist by the California State Board of Psychology (PSY 28443).
